Dave has a confident and seasoned grasp of all of the technical aspects of high-level training. But, in addition and, perhaps more important for his clients, he possesses that critical instinct for those moments in a workout where effort meets resistance in the most productive way possible. Dave is keenly attuned to the “Zen” of the training session. To work with him is to experience intense focus –one’s own and also his. Plus, I grew some better-than-average guns.

I worked with both Miriam and ET in preparation for my wedding. Both did an excellent job! They made sure my nutrition was on point and they pushed me hard at every training session. They clearly have been in the fitness industry for quite some time and know their stuff!

In addition, ET and Miriam made the entire process fun, something I’d never experienced before when working out.

The day I made a conscious decision to join the gym in April 2010, I told myself that this was it, “I’m sick and tired of being overweight!” My clothes were tight, my eating habits were undesirable, and I didn’t like who I was when I looked in the mirror. I had tried many different diets, all of which eventually failed, and didn’t include exercise. After working out on my own for a week or two, I felt I needed to take it to the next level, and get a personal trainer. That’s when I met Dave.

In the past I’ve always given up the gym after a few weeks in, and working out alone was boring and mundane. Training with Dave helped me address all the reasons for those previous failures – I started to see quick results because he knew how to push me. I learned new ways to train which kept it interesting, and I was always confident I was doing the exercises in the right way. Working out for me had never been a joyful experience. With repetitive and boring workouts of my own, it has always been hard for me to stay focused. Dave keeps it fun and interesting, and knows exactly how to keep me motivated every step of the way. Not only was I pushing myself while training, but I saw a huge change in keeping up with exercises outside of training. With his help I started to look forward to working out, enjoyed the exciting and new exercises, and was now able to make healthy food choices naturally. With all of this positive reinforcement I no longer had any reason to lose motivation. Most importantly, Dave’s easy going personality made each session unique and fun; and his complete dedication to each individual client and their goals makes him a reliable trainer. With Dave’s encouragement boosting my own ambition, I was able to drop 30 lbs. and 4 pants sizes in just five months!

“I definitely recommend Dave! He has the ability to cater training to your strength and endurance level. When I first started working with him I was out of shape. He knew when to push me and when I needed a break. Soon enough, I stopped needing breaks! He increases the level of difficulty as you get stronger and each work out is completely different than the last. After almost 2 years of working with him, I am still surprised by some of the new techniques he brings to the table! Signing up with Transform Personal Training is one of the best decisions I ever made. After a long weight loss journey, I felt like I was plateauing and needed a boost, and happened to walk by Transform’s new facility on Broadway one day. I immediately gave them a call and talked to the owner, Dave, who was incredibly kind and attentive to my needs. As a musician, I wanted to strengthen my body and increase my fat loss while still keeping my arms in a state that they could play music each day, and so Dave set me up with one of their trainers, Gerri.

I have been seeing Gerri about three times a week for several months now, and have seen massive changes in my body, energy levels, and mood. While I still have a ways to go, I have never been more fit than I am now, and the days that I work out with Gerri are the days that my energy and mood are boosted. Part of this is due, of course, to Gerri’s attentive, thoughtful approach to training, but I also think part of it is also due to how much I like Gerri as a person. She is so fun to work with, provides the perfect amount of encouragement and support, and she makes me feel like I can do all the exercises that she asks me to do, even ones that I never thought I would be capable of.

I have seen big changes to my body composition in the last few months – my muscles have increased in size and whole areas of my body are far more toned than they ever have been. And somehow this all happens without me being fatigued or in pain from day to day. This, to me, is the ultimate testament to Gerri’s professionalism and knowledge…

I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to contact Transform and see if it might be the right fit for them. I have a feeling that it will. 5 stars! 

I am loving this program to help me integrate a healthier lifestyle into my daily routine! I was one of the lucky athletes in my youth that pleasure so many sports I burned calories with ease and ate whatever I wanted. It caught up with me when I graduated college and has been a struggle ever since. Enter one of my favorite friends to save the day!

Kristen and I played volleyball together in our younger years and she recognized my struggle. Introducing me to this program and offering to help hold me accountable is just what I needed to jump start getting my life back. For once I actually enjoy making healthier meals because she suggests recipes that compliment foods that I already enjoy. I have already seen a difference in my weight, attitude, energy, and clothes! I once hired a trainer a couple years ago from another group and I quit after the first session. I figured I would fizzle out quickly here as well. I am happy to announce I was wrong. I was lucky to meet and work with Miriam. The workouts are challenging but Miriam makes the session fun and the time move quickly. I now actually look forward to coming in and doing my workout. Miriam does a great job of mixing all kinds or workouts to keep it interesting. She is also very careful to make sure you workout in a way that is safe and does not cause injury. I was hoping to tone my 47 year old body and I am happy to say its working. No magazine covers quite yet but I look the best I have in years. Thanks Miriam.

Miriam is an awesome personal trainer. She has made exercising bearable for the laziest, most sedentary person I know – myself. In the past, I have purchased equipment, joined gyms, made resolutions, promises and pacts, none of which I followed through for more than a few months. I have stayed with Transform for a year and a half because of Miriam’s understanding of my individual hatred of exercise and limited flexibility, both mental and physical. Her tailor-made routine has allowed me to ease into movement and strength- building techniques I never would have been able to manage, as well as re-arranging my body weight to a more suitable shape, triangular rather than pyramidal. Even my somewhat shallow goal of having legs that could be defined as something more than toothpicks has been met! An added bonus is I can fit into my favorite jeans again and buy clothes from a regular department store.

Miriam has a sharp eye when it comes to maintaining form and keeps a close watch as to when more challenging exercises are appropriate. She has made training almost a joy with her personalized approach, careful planning, and, most importantly to me, her sense of humor.

I have been training with Gerri Clark at Transform Personal Training for three and a half years. The photo shows me, at age 73, deadlifting 225 pounds — a direct result of Gerri’s unfailing patience, enthusiasm, and encouragement.
